Keildon Reviews

The apartment had amazing views of the coast, great welcome pack, great facilities and was very clean. The instructions for entering the complex were clear and easy to follow. Overall we had a great stay. A few suggestions the wicker rug in the hall will not lie flat and could pose a trip hazard despite downloading the instructions for the microwave we could not make it work one of the blinds in the living room wouldnt respond to the remote control. We had an issue on arrival with the heating in the master bedroom and ensuite not working. We called and called the out of hours line, holding for well over an hour in total. During this hold time a recorded message initially advised the wait time was 3 minutes. This went to 6 then 9 then 7 then 12 then 15 etc etc. It ended up at 21 minutes after 30 minutes hold time. Couldnt work out why it was generally going up and not down whilst on hold and decided the wait times were made up! Rang back later and the call centre was closed and it said there was a number for critical emergencies. We rang the number and it was quite off putting stating that it was for critical emergencies only. We thought that meant things like flooding break in no power etc so didnt leave a message. However when the call centre was still closed next morning we decided to use the critical emergencies line and got a prompt response. However we were very frustrated with the lack of answer on the out of hours line and the apparently made up wait times. Also we tried on the whats app chat function the evening we arrived only to be told our booking reference didnt exist! It then said an advisor would be in touch as soon as available. 2 days later it messaged to say as it was more than 24 hours since our contact did we still want help!? I think youll have got the gist that the out of hours contact with the letting agents is not fit for purpose in our opinion. This is not a reflection on the apartment, which is lovely, but is more of a reflection on the out of hours service provided by the letting agents.
Location was perfect, 3rd bedroom was very dissatisfying as it does not sleep 2 people, 34 bed no bathroom or toilet, have to go into ensuite of other bedroom which isnt practical, we where very disappointed with this arrangement. The 0 on the code pad sticks and is quite difficult to get in. For 2 couples its perfect,
Jonathan
We absolutely loved our stay. The location and views were amazing, the holiday home was superb,we will definitely return. The only negative was the parking pass,we couldn't use it in either car parks near the apartment and had to pay 31 for 3 nights, but didn't stop us having a fab break.
Great location and a lovely flat. However a few small things let it down. For example there were dead flies on some of the window sills, the outside tables and chairs had old bird muck on them, there was only one chair on the top balcony and the decking on that floor was covered in weeds. The welcome pack of a few tea bags, biscuits and some Macdonald's milk sachets was also dissapointing to say how much we paid. Attention to detail comes to mind!
Absolutely lovely place to stay, with amazing views and very comfortable accommodation. The upstairs bedroom in particularly provided all the comforts and such amazing dual aspect views, and ample space. If being really picky would mention that we would have benefitted from some summer duvets as our winter duvets were a little too warm, and would mention that after three people had a shower in the morning there wasn't quite enough hot water left for the fourth person!

Fabulous appartement! We stayed as a family of 5 adults and the property was spacious and well equipped to comfortably accommodate us all. The views from all the windows are amazing. In the distance we could see Bamburgh, Farne Islands and Lindisfarne. The sunsets over Bamburgh were amazing. It also overlooks the busy harbour so lots to see between the boat trips and lifeboat. Just a short walk away are shops, restaurants and pubs, so a very conveniently located property. Would stay again!
Lovely property in perfect location with wonderful views from all floors. Well equipped, comfortable beds and parking permit very handy. Great base for exploring.
A fabulous find January 2025 This was our third 'annual' visit to Keildon and, like the last two times, our stay there was wonderful. The property is a 'gem'. It is spacious, well equipped and beautifully furnished and the beds are very comfortable. The showers are powerful and hot and the master bedroom along with its ensuite is really special. It's a lovely large calm space you can escape to with wonderful views. I suspect these are the best in the town you can see the harbour from all three floors as well as having a very special view north up the coast to Bamburgh Castle. From the master bedroom, sat with your cup of coffee you can 'soak up' the vista which also includes LindisfarneHoly Island and across to Farne Island too. The views are truly panoramic. The property is centrally located within a very short walking distance of all the shops and cafes in Seahouses. There is plenty of parking in the communal car park although a free parking pass for Seahouses car park is provided for guests just in case, which is a real bonus as it includes other local pay and display car parks such as on Holy Island or in Bamburgh. We have, and will, definitely stay again.

Nice property in a good location. Also well equipped. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Welcome gift appreciated. We did have some issues with property. Main one was sewage type smell in many parts of the property. Sign in utility indicates owners know there is a problem. Smell more than just in utility room. When arrived there was a live worm in toilet downstairs which was a bit off putting. Looked online I think this indicates main sewer pipe cracked. Upstairs bedroom needs to have a larger bed. Double too small for room. Also there is no useable parking at property.
Property was excellent everything was of a very high standard . Only down side is neighbour from next property who confronted us very aggressively over parking . If we had parked were we told us too we would have blocked door and his garage. We have rented viking apartments for many years and never had a issue over parking . But this does not reflect on keildon which brilliant would recommend to anyone but park elsewhere.

Fabulous position, saw dolfins from the balcony on three different occasions. Saw a fishing boat being lifted out of the dock onto a lowloader one morning, from the balcony. There was everything we needed in the house. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children, never felt on top of each other. Had a problem with the dishwasher, it was fixed the same day. Excellent. OK a few cobwebs, but clean otherwise. Would go again. Fabulous holiday.
1.Chaotic arrangements for first entering property with insufficient accurate information Re needing to first enter property BEFORE being able to gain access to park car. 2. No explanation on not being able to use the 3 balconies because of no furniture. Ground floor stored cushions Bird Pooh stained. Metal folding chairs rust stained so not useable. 3. First floor rear toilet stained which I cleaned. 4. Balcony floors dirty and bird pooh stained. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME WITH OUT ANY RESPONCE WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO BRING THESE DEFICITS TO YOUR ATTENTION! Once by previous email, once by phone call, once by personnel visit to Northumbria cottages Seahouses Office.Because of this not optimistic that completing this feed back with make any difference.
We had such an amazing time in Keildon its a beautiful property with probably the best views in Seahouses. Weve stayed in a few holiday lets there over the years but this is one well definitely be returning to.

Beautiful accommodation. Amazing views of the sea and across to Bamburgh Castle.
The views from the apartment are spectacular, couldnt be bettered. The apartment is pretty spectacular too, very modern, comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay. On the other hand, dealing with Sykes Cottages was less than spectacular. Twice I asked for additional information about the apartment the nodogs policy and the availability of secure storage for bikes and on both occasions my initial requests were seemingly ignored. It was only after I persisted that I eventually got Sykes to contact the owners to ask for me. Once they did that I got the information I needed in a timely fashion. If I was the owner Id ditch Sykes for someone else who actually bothers with customer service.
Beautiful property well equipped and amazing location and would happily return again

Great property, great location, well equipped, nice and clean.
The property is amazing, well equipped and in a fantastic location. It is comfortable, very clean, good quality fixtures and fittings and has amazing sea and harbour views. A TV in the small bedroom would be good as the other 2 bedrooms have 1, it could sit on top of the chest of drawers. A mirror is needed in the downstairs ensuite and a check that all electrical sockets, equipment and heating is working regularly would be good as we did have to make a call to report the cooker hood, some electric sockets and heating not working and that the front door handle inside was very loose. These are minor things and in no way impacted on us as they were dealt with in a timely manner. We absolutely loved the property and would recommend it to anyone. A place we would definitely return to.

Beautiful wellequipped home with stunning views. Would recommend just a couple of issues. Patio area was unusable as very dirty and lots of metal scraps on the ground which I tried to pick up.Definitely not suitable for our 3 year old to play. No garage fob when we arrived and although Northumbria cottages provided a replacement when they were next open still could not open door. Needed garage storage for expensive bikes. Few DIY jobs need doing.eg loose toilet seats, door handles, stair rail, blinds.
The house was immaculate with a lovely position overlooking the harbour. The only negative point was the accumulation of bird droppings and weeds on the first and third balconies. I think they should be cleaned prior to change over as I accept there will be the occasional bird droppings being close to the sea
Parking slight issue, if you cant fit car in garage you park over neighbours garage, however a permit was provided for local car park which helped. Problem with intermittent smell from utility room. These minor issues to our enjoyment of this spectacular property.
Lovely 3 floor property situated in an excellent position and finished to a really high standard. Dishwasher was an unexpected and welcome bonus! So nice to have really comfortable furniture and beds. The outside areas all have spectacular views across to the Islands and Bamburgh and the picture window in the living room made sunset watches a delight. With 4 adults there was plenty of space. Easy access to shops and restaurants. Had a wonderful stay and would hope to come back soon.
Fabulous accommodation and location. Third floor bedroom is lovely with great views over Bamburgh castle and the sea. Seahouses is a lovely little town with daily trips by boat to the Farne Isles and fabulous walks on the beach. Bamburgh castle is well worth a visit and we saw Dolphins out at sea from there. The property is well equipped. One of the ground floor bedrooms that is not ensuite is a bit small and would be better for bunk beds for kids rather than another adult although we didn't have any issues with this. The entrance to the property via a key box was a bit of a faff and the instructions on entry to the property were unclear. We would suggest that the number of the property rather than the name is provided since this is what is given on the entry key pads to outside doors. We had a wonderful week's stay.
Fantastic location and views from every window, very comfortable and clean but unpleasant smell in the utility room. Would love to stay again.
Apartment, really good, thoroughly enjoyed the property, views great. Like all property there's usually the odd thing that pops,up. Utility room toilet, middle floor, I think they could be a drain problem, bad smell, in there. Kitchen, bin didn't work, but no big deal, and the electric blinds didn't work, and again no problem. Apart from that everything fantastic.
