Samphire Cottage Reviews

Simon
Well located in terms the town, harbour and walks etc. The pub is literally 5 yards from the front door and busy but no bother. Cottage lacked some essentials as in no basic instructions anywhere. Not even any soap by the sink. Otherwise it was clean and comfortable.
Stewart
Nothing to say here apart from an excellent location and an even better place to stay. I have already recommended it to another family member.
Amanda
Great location, the parking let it down but we did manage to get a space by moving the car a few times over the week, we knew this from the reviews but didn't realise that all other spaces in surrounding streets were reserved, could Seahouses not reserve the spot outside the property like others? Really nice touches with clean blankets, throws, nice bedding, linen, towels, dressing table and a hairdryer.
Gary
The cleanliness wasnâ??t up to scratch for an advertised 5 star accommodation and the noise at the weekend from the pub across from cottage was really bad. Reply from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your feedback, we apologies the cleaning wasn't up to standard for your stay. Please know we have raised this with the owner to resolve.
Cath
lovely cottage lovely location
Lydia
The cottage itself is lovely - really thoughtful decoration and exceptionally clean. The only thing that really let it down for us was itâ??s directly opposite a very noisy pub which stopped us from sleeping until gone midnight. We are a young family so sleep is hugely important to us and we go on holiday to feel rested - truthfully, we came back more tired than normal! Otherwise, the location in the day is great, right by the sea front and near the shops.
Julie
Lovely decorated cottage. Its small, but not too small for a family of 4, with a 14 and and 18 year old. Had everything we needed, apart from a coffee machine, but we brought our own stove top one :) As others have mentioned the pub across the lane is noisy, fri, sat, and sunday nights. But didn't ruin our holiday for us.
Julie
Great cottage apart from the noise from the pub
Jean
Lovely comfy beds , great location and everything you need for a break from home.
Sarah
We had a fantastic stay in this little cottage. Was quite cosy for 2 adults, 2 children and a dog, but the location was incredible. 2 minutes walk from the seafront and beautiful beaches/coastal paths in either direction, and excellent pubs even closer for great food!
Suzanne
Lovely cottage in excellent location a few steps away from harbour and pub (can be some noise on weekends, but didnâ??t bother us in January) and short walk to local Co-op and shops. Cottage is well equipped but not many basic provisions for cooking (tea, decaf coffee, sugar, salt and pepper provided).
Julie
Beautiful cottage. Loved everything especially the wood burner. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Loved the reclining chairs and all the wall art throughout the property. Location perfect and got parked outside address no bother.
J
Pretty cottage, very conveniently situated.
Stuart
Lovely cottage right in the middle of Seahouses. On street parking may be an issue but we parked outside 90% of the time. Pub across the road but this wasnâ??t any bother.Cottage is tastefully decorated with a homely feel. Good facilities within. We were a family with a dog and this was a good choice for us and we would stay again.
Kevin
Pros Really spacious & beautifully presented cottage Very clean & tidy & very close to the harbour & town centre Wood burner very useful, despite going in July! Very comfy bed in main bedroom Cons Parking is restricted & is on a first come first served basis. We managed to park our car on arrival, but there seems to be a lot of competition for spaces on this quiet road, with some people finding no spaces when returning from a day out There appeared to be no outside seating area designated to the property as advertised & indeed the outside area was very small & untidy. No basics like hand soap, shower gel, dishcloths were provided, so you need to bring these with you
Diane
Lovely well decorated cottage and great that some logs are supplied but there are no instructions re the house so s bins not put out also no instructions on the hob which is difficult to work out if you are not used to convection hobs. The water pressure in the property is incredibly low and just dribbles out
Joseph
Excellent cottage, with excellent facilities, in a wonderful seaside village. Extremely clean, absolutely spotless. Superb beds, and the biggest bath Iâ??ve ever seen. Olympic sized in fact! We wouldnâ??t hesitate to return, and cannot recommend highly enough.
Rosemary
Nothing to say here
Claire
This is genuinely a lovely cottage which I'm sad to see is up for sale; this is our second stay here. There are a few improvements I'd make, such as more cutlery and a better selection of glasses and oven dishes, but these are really minor details, and if not heeded would not spoil your stay. The location is FABULOUS but comes with a draw back over the parking, some of which was most, most inconsiderate from others who were also on holiday. I think a "please leave space for residents of Samphire Cottage" sign, in the window, would not go a miss, although equally that would not be mandatory to abide by, but it really has been quite tricky at times. Would I stay here again? Yes, in a heartbeat. Is there room for improvement? I do think so. I do hope that any sale of this property still allows for a holiday let. It's genuinely lovely, and superbly placed, and we would absolutely go back. The communication from Original Cottages was also very good, but please allow for a 10:30 vacation of the property?
Sandra
Lovely cottage. Great location. Good places for food around to take dogs. Just to note there is no where to let dog out for toilet without going with them on lead to just bear in mind, it is enclosed yard but it is shared and signs of no dogs in some areas of it. The pub next to the property can be a little noisy till midnight at a weekend but not dreadful. Good value for money. Tasteful decor which is homely and well equipped. Beds are amazingly comfortable!!
Sharon
Samphire Cottage is a beautiful little place and is well placed a stones throw from the harbour and town village centre. It is opposite 2 pubs whose patrons parked outside the cottage at times whilst we were there and I feel that this could be an issue in the high season so definitely something to be aware of. There is no coffee machine which I know is not essential however would be a nice addition for those coffee snobs amongst us. The kitchen is otherwise lovely and well equipped with everything you would need. Dog owners need to be aware that the shared courtyard is not really dog friendly. You cannot just let them out to do their deeds as there are signs that other cottage owners have placed. This had a negative impact on us and we would not have booked had we known this. The two leather recliners were great and we channelled our inner Chandler & Joey on a couple of occasions which was a source of great amusement!! Best beach is Beadnell a couple of miles away it's great for the woofs too!
