Anchor Cottage (Seahouses) Reviews

A nice and spacious house to spend Christmas with our kids and their grandparents. It had everything we needed, was nice and cosy especially with the fire on, and was very well located close to everything in Seahouses. The Christmas tree was very pretty

Another wonderful stay at Anchor Cottage. The cottage was cosy and comfortable with everything needed for our holiday. Many thanks for the welcome basket, very much appreciated. We would definitely recommend this Cottage and plan to return in the future.
Loved our stay at Anchor cottage very clean, comfortable and cosy. Well equipped and maintained we especially appreciated the welcome basket. Our first stay but hopefully not our last.
We would book Anchor Cottage again as it was such excellent accommodation. Very welcoming, very comfortable and high standards throughout the property in all rooms and areas. Everything had been considered and provided to ensure guests were able to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The beds were extremely comfortable. The location is perfect with the Harbour and coastal paths a short walk away . We made good use of all the local businesses for meals, gifts and food shopping. Thankyou also for the very thoughtful and generous welcome basket.
Our first visit to Anchor Cottage what a treat! Warm, very comfortable, clean and well equipped. We count ourselves very lucky the cottage we have stayed in for the last 3 years was cancelled 3 weeks before our holiday fortunately my daughter found Anchor Cottage it suited us so well. Hopefully we will be back next year. We appreciated the welcome basket thank you

Location of the property was excellent. Its a bit small for 6 adults. The third bedroom should have had a single bed too small for a double.
We had a very comfortable stay at the cottage, everything we needed in the cottage. Ideal place to travel around the area and Seahouses is beautiful.
We enjoyed our stay at Anchor Cottage especially several visits to the Ocean club and it's swimming pool which the children loved. The cottage was well equipped and very clean. It is very well placed, only a few minutes walk to the centre of Seahouses with its shops, arcades and pubs and of course several fish and chip shops. The cottage is very comfortable. The smallest bedroom is just about big enough for a double bed, but it was OK for us. We had a minor problem with the plumbing, but someone came very speedily to fix it. The only reason I haven't given five stars is because we had a lot of trouble contacting Sykes before the holiday. The instructions said to contact them if we wanted the ziplink bed made into a twin, which led to a frustrating circle of being told by a computer on the phone to make any changes on the website but online it insisted the bed configuration could not be changed. There was no option to talk to a person, although we did eventually manage to do so on another day and the change was made.

Great location, central to Seahouses. Clean well equipped cottage. Very comfortable beds. Nice little courtyard to sit out. One sofa in the lounge needs replacing as not in great condition. Only other comment is we didn't really need winter duvets and the heating on in the middle of a heatwave!
We had a lovely week in Seahouses. The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Its location was perfect, with shops, pubs, and the beach all just a short walk away. This was our first visit to Seahouses, and wed definitely return to the area. A big thank you to the owner for the thoughtful hamper, which was much appreciated after our eighthour journey!
Absolutely spotlessly clean comfy beds lovely decor great location with parking an added bonus. Only one small negative is the furniture in front room is a bit passed its best. Comfier sofas would be better.
Another lovely stay at Anchor Cottage. Welcome pack was a lovely gesture. It is just like a home from home but with the sea & wonderful scenery. The dolphins didn't let us down, we saw them 3 times throughout the week. We will be back.
Comfortable cottage warm & everything needed. Alnwick & Warkworth worth a visit as well as the usual suspects. A bit worried about the lone gannet on the inner farne.

This was our third year at Anchor Cottage and was another enjoyable stay. Everything you need for a comfortable holiday. Excellent location and two parking spaces. Every year I can see that the owner has done some changes to the property which shows they care about visitors enjoying their stay. Hopefully we will be back next year!
Anchor cottage is simply the most beautiful cottage I have ever stayed in. The location is perfect, convenient for everything in seahouses and as a base for sightseeing. It has a real home from home feel with everything you could possibly need for your holiday, including a lovely welcome basket. Thank you. All mod cons for everyday living but period style features such as stripped floorboards and open fires which we loved. Great space for 2 car parking, very much needed in seahouses and a beautiful little out door space. Really well equipped as well. The owners have thought of every thing. We have already looked at booking again next year. Just absolutely perfect. Thank you for a fabulous holiday. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Another fab stay at Anchor Cottage, said it before, saying it again it is like a home from home. Hope to see stay again soon!
We felt that the property represented a really good combination of traditional cottage charm stripped pine doors and floorboards, plus open fires and all the quality appliances that modern living has come to expect. The comprehensive range of books, CDs, DVDs, games and toys would appeal to visitors of all ages and interests. A warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout clean and tastefully decorated. Ample offroad,, parking space for 2 cars, and very important to us seniors! within easy walking distance to some very fine pubs.
Lovely comfortable cottage in a perfect location. Well presented and well equipped. Welcome pack was great. Would definitely stay again.
What a joy to be back in Seahouses! I was born in Beadnell, spent the first five years there before family moved to Gateshead. So many happy memories, parents brought my sisters and I here every year for Summer holidays which seemed to go on forever!! Cottage is lovely, you have thought of everything! Hope to be back next year. A brilliant combination of traditional cottage features stripped pine doors, floorboards, open fires and all the quality appliances for modern living. Plus, a fantastic range of books, CD's, DVD's and toys to suit visitors of all ages and interests. Thank you so much.
Premium price, less than premium experience. It was a good location, and on the surface, looked good. There were maintenance issues including flashing kitchen lights flashing not working rt hand light over bathroom sink hot tap on bath had to be held to turn on and off not good when it was hot button on bathroom sink hot tap detached grey settee in front lounge spring gone? down at one side general rubbish bin outside totally full on arrival. Cleanliness downstairs loo very offputting, even after several flushes with what looked like faecal stains plenty of cobwebs and dust etc along skirting by bedback of bedside cabinets, suggesting inadequate cleaning on arrival black bits in bath may be blown in if window had been opened, but as you would have to stand in bath to operate the window, obviously the muck was just left also on shelf between cistern and toilet bowl. Bad staining on mattress protector on queen bed. Minor points the kettle is very heavy for anyone who is not super fit in upper body. Kitchen blind over the sink hopeless for anyone under 5'5 to reach and pull updown. Shower lethal bath mat would be helpful to be obvious. Those issues are about the cottage. In what was not even a full week with a clear message early booking in was out of the question, it felt like being short changed to receive a message when it was too late to react to say the cottage was available earlier. Never had any of theses issues with Sykes before. Very disappointed.
We had a lovely stay at Anchor Cottage. Perfect location for us! Thank you for the welcome hamper it was much appreciated.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful little house. The location is amazing! Thanks!
We had a wonderful time the cottage is lovely and we really felt like we were home . We would definitely recommend staying there and we will definitely look to staying again in the near future
Great cottage, perfect location and lovely welcome basket! thanks.
Wonderful, well equipped, beautifully furnished, very homely property. The easy parking, games, books, buckets and spades, clothes dryer were all very appreciated extras. Fabulous welcome hamper was a very pleasant and delicious surprise, and the phone call to say we could access the property slightly earlier on arrival day was also a bonus. Loved the cottage, Seahouses itself and the property management. Definitely hoping to be back here again!
Lovely week in Seahouses. Comfy cottage, plenty of room. maintenance comments entered into the book.
Very clean cottage. Well equipped kitchen. Welcome hamper greatly appreciated. Great location. Really enjoyed our first visit to Northumberland.
Loved the cottage everything we needed was supplied. Recommend a visit to Alnwick loved our boat ride to Farne Islands and Bamburgh castle. Thank you very much!

Our second visit to the cottage and I had read that the bathroom had been refurbished but we were all disappointed that the shower had not been replaced for a more powerful one which would have been nice in the new bathroom. The new stairs carpet was nice and the new appliances in the kitchen. Overall another lovely stay and we will be back!
Michael
The cottage was in s great location & very nice. The reason for only 1 star is the heating or hot water didn't come on during our stay, this meant we left a day early as no hot water or heating. In the house instructions book it advised heating comes on twice per day long enough to give you hot water through the day and night but this didn't happen. The property maintenence came out and put the heating on but this was only for a short time & not long enough to heat the water. The boiler needs upgrading for a property charging 200 per night. Basically 300 per night as we had to come home early or face another night sitting with blankets wrapped round us & not hot water to wash dishes. Heating & hot water are the minimum you expect
Our second visit to Anchor Cottage and we enjoyed out visit again! The cottage is well equipped, excellent location and parking which is a bonus in Seahouses. I am sure we will be back again!!
Third visit of the year and still loving Anchor Cottage and it's fab location! Rest assured we'll be back!
We think is one of the most relaxing weeks we've spent in a while. This cosy comfortable cottage is extremely well equipped and spacious. Well situated to explore the beautiful surroundings. A warm welcome. yummy welcome pack, luxury beds. Peace and fresh air. What more could you want! Hopefully we will be back. Thank you.
Cosy, comfortable house, feels like home.
Amanda
The cottage was well presented and very clean. It felt very much like home and we wished wed booked a longer stay. The boiler problem was fixed within 30 minutes of notifying the agents, thanks to the engineer who arrived like superman from Beadnell Bay. I would highly recommend this cottage.
We've had a lovely short break. The cottage is lovely and clean. It's felt like home.
Stayed over Xmas, beautiful spacious, cosy house. Maybe a bit more crockery would be necessary if a larger family were staying there. Really loved it.
We had a lovely week in this comfortable cottage our first stay in Seahouses, but not our last as were already talking about coming back! This quiet cottage is perfectly placed for beach walks and for getting into the town centre. Having off road parking is such a bonus too!
Lovely cottage, very much enjoyed our stay here. Very comfy beds and appreciated the warmth when we arrived. Thank you for the welcome basket! Our Grandson really enjoyed the wealth of games provided. Our best cottage is Seahouses by far!
The cottage was beautiful it had everything we wanted we will definitely stay there again
