Farnelea Reviews

To be fair, 1st impressions were, oh god, what have we come to! The shared parking lot let it down, needs a jolly good tidy up! The cottage itself, was lovely. Needs a new bed in the second bedroom, as it makes a tremendous noise everytime you moved. Also, the bath needs a Bathmat, quite dangerous as it's very slippery when having a shower. Could also do with a mirror above bathroom sink for shaving. Apart from that, we had a lovely stay.
Andrew
Yes, the cottage is well situated and at first glance appears clean and well maintained. However pictures can be provided the mattress in the middle bedroom wooden bed has very much seen better days, I stay in around 4 cottages a year and this one is the worst Ive stayed in mainly due to the bed. Mattress has partially collapsed at the edges and is also soiled, although this was covered with a topper. The bathroom was also very tired and most annoyingly the plug had to be taken out using a sharp kitchen knife or leave a bath full of water. The doors in the middle bedroom are jammed shut and will not open, thus no ventilation and also a potential fire risk. In the lounge the what maybe cream beige rug is grafted and should really be changed or at the least cleaned. I know its a dog friendly property , and I always book dog friendly cottages, a little attention to detail goes a long way. The cottage kitchen is a farmhouse style with no kicking boards, underneath the units the state of cleanliness was very poor. I do fully intend to complain formally which sadly is not something I ever do. I intend to post this review to online platforms with supporting pictures, the cost of uk holidays are not cheap and the very least people should expect is to have a restful comfortable night. Final point the cottage has had a very nice pale grey composite door fitted , it looks lovely !, maybe replace the mattresses and sort the bath as this is what guests appreciate more. The week wasnt a complete fail as the sun shone and we could use the small rear garden which was actually quite nice.
Superb cottage, spacious and peaceful. Will most definitely return. Highly recommended
Robert
Farnlea is in a great, peaceful location. It feels like youre in the middle of nowhere, yet youre only a few minutes from the main road, with easy access to the A1 and the coast. The property felt very homely and had lots of charm and character, with lovely features such as the fireplace and ceilings. We especially enjoyed the sunroom and the different options for sitting outside, and it was lovely watching all the swallows flying around. The main bedroom bed was very comfortable, although the mattress in the kids room could have been better quality as you could feel the springs. The living room was comfortable, WiFi was good and the kitchen was very well equipped. The welcome package was also a lovely touch. Overall, cleanliness was good, although some areas of the floors and the rugs looked like they could have done with a more thorough clean. The bath was a little awkward to get into and would definitely benefit from an antislip mat. We really enjoyed our stay. Farnlea is a peaceful, comfortable and characterful property and a great base for exploring the area.
The cottage is lovely clean and very comfortable, and much more characterful than the images suggest. The location is very quiet and peaceful and it really didn't take long to drive to places to eat and shop. Plenty to do in the area and we were very lucky with the weather missing most of the showers forecast. The bathroom was fully functional but could do with a bit of TLC regrouting etc. Our main concern was that there was nowhere to hang wet coats, which fortunately we didn't need.
Stephen
Lovely house has everything you need Just needs a shower mat very slippy Plus could do with a mirror over the sink
Anjela
Beautiful cottage. Enjoyed the stay. Had a couple of issues with heating and boiler but these were swiftly rectified when reported.
A lovely cottage, very well equipped and in a beautiful peaceful location. Loved the conservatory and the king size bed. The coffee, milk, wine and biscuits was a nice touch on arrival. Hope to return again as there's still lots we want to see and do. Thanks for the loan of your lovely cottage
The property was as described, excellently presented and equipped, it location was very peaceful but yet centrally placed for visits to so many locations. The cottage was chosen because of the conservatory with views for the not so good weather but as it turned out the weather was good and the back terrace was therefore extensively used.
This was our second stay here! The location is perfect and peaceful. We love the size and its well equipped. The welcome package is lovely. The kids love the giant map in their bedroom and want one! The only things wed improve would be some hand soap provided in the bathroom. And we also had trouble getting the plug out of the bath.
Phillip
A lovely, clean and well equipped property. We settled in very quickly and it felt like home from home. Our first visit to Northumberland and we fell in love with the area. Will definitely be coming back!!
Richard

Angela
We took our elderly parents and our 2 dogs, and enjoyed every minute! A very well kept, and clean cottage, with comfortable surroundings and great viewsand pretty friendly sheep! Everything met our expectations, and will definitely be coming back for another holiday. Thank you P.s my only gripe, was the sky broadband was only running at 10mps which is pretty poor for nowadays.
Alison
A lovely quiet cottage in the country complete with everything you could need for a comfortable holiday. Less than 10 minutes drive from beautiful beaches at Bamburgh and Seahouses and a great base for exploring Northumberland.
We've had such a lovely stay, the cottage is beautiful, nipping clean and well appointed. Huge thanks for having us x
Enjoyable stay in lovely accommodation. Extremely prompt service when there was a problem with the boiler. Looking forward to further visits.
A lovely cottage one of the nicest we have stayed in. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Really good base for exploring Northumberland. Will definitely stay there again.
Judith
We had a great stay at Farnelea . ..we felt very comfortable there and loved the way it was appointed. If anything I found it too warm although I know the heating could be adjustable...just thinking of your bills and the planet ! however much he tried my husband couldn't get the wood burner to work ...this is a feature we note in our cottage selection so was a bit disappointing but would not put us off booking Farnelea again as it is so lovely. Very grateful to the bin fairy ..she beat us at every turn ! Thank you so much for sharing the cottage
Angela

Farnelea cottage is very comfortable, clean and has a welcoming atmosphere. Its quiet rural location is just perfect for a relaxing break. Not far from the A1 to enjoy visiting historic attractions in Northumberland. The enclosed patio garden area is ideal for a day relaxing.
A beautiful cottage, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. Loved the garden space with open views
This cottage was so incredibly impressive So cosy but immaculate Everything ... This cottage was so incredibly impressive So cosy but immaculate Everything had been thought of that you may need especially in the kitchen If we were to be picky the only suggestion we would give is on the fence maybe put something i between the panel to stop small dogs being able to get into the adjoining field especially as sheep are in there and come very close Our Terrier were fine but to be completely enclosed would be a good idea
