Curlew Cottage Reviews

The cottage was very comfortable and warm at a very cold time of year. Super large comfy bed, great storage space in bedrooms, lovely walk in shower and great to have sky TV. Also excellent parking right in front, so unloading and loading made easy. Also good to be so close to village centre and amenities as well. We know Seahouses well and were not really holiday makers but needed a good base for a week. A few things could have helped make our stay even better and these include trays, so we didnt have to always sit at the table, an oven tray for warming food, an ironing board there was an iron and clothes drying frame but no board and we did do some washing, plus another lamp in the lounge to save using bright overhead ceiling light. We would have also found a second key helpful as we were both in and out of the cottage at different times. Overall though great base for us.
We were very pleased with the accommodation. It had all the facilities and comfort we needed for our stay. There were however one or two minor problems that didn't affect our stay but we we were able to bring to the attention of the owner in a very useful 'Fix it please' book. Not mentioned in the book though was the cleanliness of the oven that we feel needs to be addressed. Also I have mobility problems that does affect my balance so a handle in the shower would have been very useful. All in all though as I've said it didn't affect our holiday and in spite of the weather we went out every day and really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful area. We would definitely recommend and stay in the cottage again should the occasion arise. As a general comment about 'Welcome Packs' in properties so many people today have 'allergies' and personally we were unable to use the milk and tea left for us and would have appreciated decaffeinated coffee instead. The biscuits went down a treat!

Had a lovely week at Curlew Cottage, Seahouses. The cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable with everything we needed for a great holiday. We found the location of the cottage perfect with the coastal path on the doorstep, great if you have a dog as it accesses a lovely beach. Seahouses town centre only a short walk also. Would definitely return and happy to recommend to others.
We have stayed at Curlew Cottage on several occasions and the cottage is an ideal location for a great holiday in Seahouses and the surrounding area. The cottage is well equipped and very well maintained.
Michael
Perfect for our situation. We had a lovely week. The house was clean and warm and the field nextdoor was ideal for dog walks in the dark.Thankyou.
Cheryl
Lovely cosy cottage convenient for Seahouses centre and with adequate parking outside the property. The cottage is located at the quiet end of a small estate and has a beautiful view of the sea from the front of the property. Plenty of opportunities for beach walks and dog walking areas too. Very clean and well maintained. We have stayed in the property twice now and looking forward to our next visit. Its almost like coming home.

We've been to Curlew cottage a number of times now, and it never fails to disappoint. It has everything we need for a comfortable stay and is a great central point for exploring this beautiful part of the world. We love it!
Melissa
Lovely little place with everything you need. We found it very clean and a very welcoming place. It was cosy and peaceful. We'll definitely be back.
Lovely, comfortable cottage. Good location. Nice outside seating area. Dog friendly
A wonderful equipped and comfortable property which had everything I needed for a perfect stay. The location is brilliant with immediate access onto the coastal path and within 5 minutes easy easy walk of the town centre
What a lovely cottage, perfect location, clean, dog friendly. Everything you need for a relaxing holiday. First time to Northumberland. Not our last. Already booked Curlew Cottage for next year.
Angella
If you like being a stone's throw from the coast this will suit you perfectly. Every evening we walked along the coast to Seahouses harbour. We were able to pick up any groceries from a choice of two small supermarkets. We used the local buses rather than our car to explore Alnwick, Berwick, Beadnell and Bamburgh. In the last two cases it gave us a lovely one way beach walk. There's a choice of several boat trips just a short walk away too. All from a comfortable base with everything we needed.
Comfortable, well situated cottage!
Overall its a lovely little cottage within Seahouses. This is our 2nd visit to Curlew and we have to say the new boiler is perfect. Would have been lovely to sit in the early morning sun, with a cuppa at the front. Looking forward to booking again. Many thanks.
Michael
Very quiet neighbourhood, ideal for dogs fields and lovely walks within 10 metres and easy access to shops and pubs.
Vivian
We have stayed at Curlew Cottage before, the fact that we've returned demonstrates how much we like it. It's comfortable, warm and well equipped. The location near to the coastal path is ideal for accessing the harbour, and the facilities of Seahouses. It is a few minutes to the shops and other facilities, near to the coast road, but not so traffic noise can be heard. There are extra throws and blankets we didn't need them. We enjoyed Sky tv for those evenings when we didn't go out. We hope to return!!
William
Really loved this holiday one really bad day we were stuck in doors. Its a lovely cottage. We have stayed there before and would not hesitate to book again. Could do with a television upstairs when the weather is bad.
Glenis
Lovely cottage in an ideal location but let down by the following issue oilfired boiler situated in kitchen gives off strong unpleasant fumes which permeate throughout the cottage. Contacted the owner about these, she arranged for a plumber to check this we were not in the cottage at the time. Apparently if there are fumes they are not dangerous to health and comply with safety regulations. Unfortunately this did not stop the fumes from happening and we note from previous reviews for this property others have mentioned the issue but obviously nothing has been done to solve the issue. Please can others be made aware of this issue prior to booking as the smell left us feeling nauseous and headachy and was a blight to an otherwise lovely holiday.
Really enjoyed our stay at curlew cottage We've been to seahouses several times and found your cottage perfect for us. We would definitely book again thank you for our lovely stay.
Eunice
There is a problem with the boiler, the fumes were really bad. My dog's refused to eat inside because they smelt the fumes and felt sick The cottage was clean, well equipped and in a lovely area
The property itself has a superb location & so clean & tidy inside with all utensils you need in the kitchen. The information sheets & little notes around were a handy touch....Just a couple of suggestions for cosiness, curtains for bedroom's, particularly small, as lights from neighbouring site peep through sides of blind. Also couple of cushions for chairs upstairs and 2 need replacing in lounge area....The back garden was smaller than we thought & not a pinch of grass for doggy. The saving grace for the dog situation, was the superb fields that were so close. The boiler definitely needs some attention as the fumes ,when ever entering this beautiful little haven was quite pungent, and the noise from the boiler when firing up. We have the same system, so I particularly noticed the difference. Otherwise my top list of places to stay.
Cheryl
The cottage is very cosy, comfortable and convenient and in walking distance to Seahouses. Perfect as a base to explore.further afield. Wish wed found this property earlier in our Northumberland holidays. Have booked again for 2025 which is something we never do normally but this cottage is too good not to return to.
William
We loved our stay at curlew cottage. Love Seahouses had a caravan there for sixteen years and the fourth time in a cottage. We will be back.
A wonderful property. Perfect location. All amenities and comfort provided.
Allistair
This cosy cottage is situated on the outskirts of Seahouses but close enough to walk to the local shops, pubs & beaches if you so wish. The area has lots of places ideal for walking your dog which was fantastic for us. We found the cottage was very tidy, clean & comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The bed was super comfy with a lovely ensuite shower room which was perfect. A big plus for us was the private parking right outside the property. A perfect holiday home from home, would highly recommend.
Great little place, with everything you need and with the sea and town just a short stroll away.
We had a lovely stay at curlew cottage, a well equipped, comfortable cosy cottage with fantastic sea views, the location of the cottage was excellent, we didnt even have to use the car, walks from the doorstep, and used local buses to get further afield, we would highly recommend this cottage to stay in .
Lovely cottage very clean and comfortable Lovely location had a great week booked again for next year
Thomas
Good clean comfortable cottage in a great position for beach , town , and walks.
Not problem however just to make owner aware the kitchen tap is constantly dripping.
Jacqueline
Very good location for town and coast path. Parking outside the property really convenient. On arrival very welcoming appearance with neat garden front and back, inside really clean and comfortable and every facility needed for your self catering holiday.
The location of this property is stunning & great if you have a dog with a huge field a few steps away leading to the cliff walk. Less than a 10 minute walk into Seahouses so no need to use the car much. The property itself was compact but had everything we needed & the ensuite shower was fantastic. Very clean, many thanks.
Jillian
We have been coming to Seahouses for over 12 years and this is our 7th accommodation to have stayed in . I can say that this is far the best for comfort and location. The slow cooker was a bonus to leave on whilst out walking all day. We hope to return next year
Maggie

Perfect location, good size, very clean, lovely holiday let.
Well appointed warm and comfortable. Well equipped, seating in lounge and dining area for 4. Convenient for coastal walks and amenities of Seahouses. It is a modern, end terrace so expect to be aware of neighbours at times. We would definitely stay again, summer or winter.
Excellent location, very clean, modern property with all amenities you would need for a stay.
A clean, very well equipped property . ..
Dog friendly and within walking distance of the beach. Convenient for the shops. Peaceful location.
