The house was ideal for our group, comfortable, wellequipped, and thoughtfully maintained. Its location was excellent, just a short distance from Millom town for any essentials, while also within easy driving reach of the mountains and the Lake District. We especially appreciated the care and attention the owner has put into making the property so welcoming and wellpresented.

A brilliant week staying in Haverigg. The house was perfectly located 2 mins from a fantastic beach with beautiful dunes and rich birdlife. With plenty of other stunning places to explore in the Lakes we were kept very busy. The house was really warm and comfortable in Feb with a sociable open plan ground floor. Would have benefitted from a clothes airer for wet walking gear and some big saucepans to cater for our group but otherwise a perfect place to stay!

Excellent place to stay, will be booking for New Year 2026

The property was fantastic. The location was really good two minutes away from the beach the kids and dog loved it, just over half an hour to get to most attractions Will definitely be booking to go back again?

We had a great time at Harbour Retreat. The house had pretty much everything we needed. The kitchen was spacious with plenty of crockery and cutlery for 8 people. The bedrooms are comfortable. The main bathroom had an issue with the onoff knob for the shower and the owner tried to sort it but it was still tricky to turn off. We all managed to deal with it and it didn't impact on our holiday. The stairs are quite steep and creak a lot something to keep in mind if you're moving around at night! The Londis shop over the road is very handy. We didn't use any other shops in Havering. We had a lovely break and Harbour Retreat was a great base for our family.

The property was lovely and spacious, plenty of room for the 8 of us plus our other family staying in a nearby property and caravan could come over to eat. We appreciated that there was extra crockery, and everything was well decorated. The washing line was a very useful addition and the kids turned the garage space into their secret lair! Great house! Also, the Londis does the best cookie pie weve ever had!

The property, split over 3 floors, in a small seaside town. Prior to going on holiday we had read some recent poor reviews which have us some concern. However, on arrival we found the property in great condition, tastefully decorated and having all the amenities we required. Yes, there is Freeview and it works fine. The unit sits behind the TV and there are two remotes. Yes, a couple of dining chairs did have stains on them am guessing previous holiday makers. Wouldn't have said they were anything to be overly concerned about. The kitchen was well equipped, cooker, oven, microwave, fridgefreezer all great. Fridge even had alarm warning when door left open too long!! Great reminder for grandkids. Yes, washing machine & dishwasher instructions were not around both working perfectly and easy to figure out. There was a small backyard that acted like a suntrap leading off the kitchen. Great for sitting out and for drying clothes!! All bedrooms were spacious, with storage space and very comfy beds. Everything was clean & tidy. Both bathrooms had a bath with overhead shower. The main bathroom had two handbasins great when mum & miss want to wash at same time! The top floor room had an ensuite bathroom window was broken so couldn't open. The wood finish upstairs have a rustic feel and went well with the grey paint finish throughout the property. Despite being on the main street, external noise levels were not an issue. We enjoyed our stay at Harbour Retreat. It's great if you're looking for somewhere quiet, a seaside village and don't mind two flights of stairs to the top bedroom.

Not a top rating cottage. No welcome pack after a 120 mile trip. Fat dripping from cooker hood. Microwave small and burn mark inside. Cooker door filthy. Floors dirty. Furniture badly stained. No instructions for appliances. Plenty of empty cupboards. Tin opener didn't workrusty. Everything needs updating.
We were generally happy with our weekend visit but there are a few issues I would like to mention about our stay. Many of the platesglasses and cooking traysutensils had to be cleaned prior to use as the very visibly dirty or grubby. There were also a few faults noticed, namely the fridge cabinet was broken so not attached to the fridge door and the top floor bathroom window was broken which did not allow for ventilation when using the shower or to allow any fresh air in during an exceptionally hot weekend. The pictures suggested a BBQ was available to use but this was not present in the garage as pictured. The garage roof was also leaking which caused puddles and would not be suitable for any dry storage Finally the Freeview TV did not seem to work but the remote was provided.

Just spent a weekend here, the property was clean and as described. Lots of room, spacious bedrooms and two good bathrooms. The kitchen was modern and well stocked. We requested a late check out and were given one at no extra cost. My only feedback would be maybe some hooks on the back or the doors especially the bathroom would be great for hanging towelsclothes. Location was good, several pubscricket club within walking distance, a shop and chip shop straight across the road. We travelled with children and they did the aqua park water assault course which they loved. All in all a great weekend in a lovely cottage.
House as described and shown in photos, 5 of us and we had lots of space. Needs some attention. Numerous reviews refer to bathroom window being broken and unable to open and its still the same so hadnt been repaired. Numerous reviews refer to needing blackout blinds or curtains but again this hadnt been actioned. Settee needs a good clean and had stains all over. Top floor bathroom sink water doesnt run away and this bathroom needed a better clean. Guests required to strip beds which I disagree with as on holiday. No BBQ as shown in photos. Kitchen good and well equipped but you could put washing power in washer as its been integrated and drawer cant open. Nothing to do in local area at all other than walks. We still had a lovely time just had to drive much further to visit places. Nothing in Millom or Haverigg to do. We used it as a base to drive out to other places.

We were expecting high standards for the cost of 3 nights. It was on the whole very clean and surface level good maintenance, however we had problems with the main shower which leaked badly through the ceiling into the living room and the ensuite shower doesn't work well. All the mattresses need replacing noone slept well as the mattresses were so soft with no support and I have come home with bad shoulder pain, and have booked in with a Chiropractor. Bathroom window broken, no lock on the ensuite door, stairs felt rickety. On the whole an okay base for visiting relatives and perhaps the cottage is in keeping with the standards of the area it is a more remote and basic part of the Lakes, and the area has always been run down but not the relaxing haven we were hoping for. Dcor is minimalist to the point of being a bit clinical downstairs could do with some lamps and cosying up, and upstairs just very basic. Bedrooms definitely need curtains the cheap blinds did nothing to cut out the sun. Kitchen not well equipped all the basics but a minimal supply. No welcome tray which is customary in selfcatering. There were laminated signs on each bed with an instruction for guests to strip the bedding. We didn't because when I'm on holiday the last thing I want to do when I've paid to be on holiday is strip beds! I assume there must be a financial incentive for the owner with their cleaning company, for them to be trying to insist that guests strip the beds?
The property was lovely , ideal location with great amenities on the door step. Lovely coastal walks and a greqt base for exploring the lakes . The owners allowed us to access the property slightly earlier due to being there early so very accommodating not sure if because of this that the hoovering was missed. Wasnt too much of an issue, hoover and brushes available, as everything else was very clean. Beds were extremely comfortable. There wasn't a bbq available as listed. the shop across the road provided a disposable one. Everything else was great

We had a lovely week at Harbour cottage ,the house was lovely clean and warm ,kitchen well equipped , and lots of seating for everyone in the lounge diner . The Londis across the road very well stocked and very friendly and not forgetting the fish and chip shop really good . A brilliant week
Harbour Retreat was a great property for our group of friends. We loved the big TV and space in the lounge area for us all to sit in comfort. The kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. Haverigg and the local area is beautiful and we had some lovely early morning walks and it benefits from being less touristy than some parts of the Lake District. We visited Millom for an evening out and would recommend visiting BroughtoninFurness and The Blacksmiths Arms in Broughton Mills.
Really loved our stay at the cottage. Comfy sofas and huge tv in the lounge. Little courtyard for drinks outside. Easy parking right outside the cottage. Couldnt fault it.
Spacious property for weekend away with friends. 2 mins from the beach for the dog to run around and handy local shop. Good base for exploring the Lakes we spent a lovely day in Coniston. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable, the welcome gift appreciated and the owner very helpful. Only suggested additions would be a hairdryer and some champagne glasses.

This property was spacious comfortable and had everything you could want we really enjoyed our stay and will be back there was one thing I feel I must mention the drains in both bathrooms was poor whilst you were having a shower the water got 3 or 4 inches deep and when you ran the taps water backed up into the bath and there was a bad smell from it but otherwise the property was amazing kind regards Nick Carter
What a lovely find and great spot , the house was clean and welcoming with more ... What a lovely find and great spot , the house was clean and welcoming with more than enough room for two families, only suggestion would be a lamp for the lounge thank you

Lovely place to stay, very spacious and nice layout. I highly recommend this place to stay and relax to be away from busy life in the city

Haverigg is sadly a much neglected part of Cumbria. The beach half a mile to the right of the harbour is lovely. Nice small cafe too. Lido and beach walks for dogs nice. This property has a lot that is good and also has room for improvement. Good lounge area, TV once you work out how to use it, main bathroom and the local fish and chip shop. Room for improvement the bed we tried to sleep in needs a new mattress, welcome pack information not great, number of plates etc for eight people needs to be increased, a lamp or two in the downstairs area would be really helpful for anyone who likes to read and not sit in stark white light, a couple of curtains downstairs would not go amiss on doors and the outside area needs to be softened with some plants or something of that ilk. We had builders next door Monday to Friday although there is little that could have been done about this some warning in advance might have helped. To be fair they were relatively quiet. In summary, although the pictures are a pretty accurate reflection of the property the little things that make a big difference to a holiday and perception of a cottage were not quite there for us.
The property was nice and clean. High end furniture, kitchen and bathroom. Bedrooms let the property down, cheap furniture, poor bedding cheap duvet . The top bedroom, one bedside light didnt work, went to swap it with the one on the other side of the bed but that had no bulb in. The tv in the room wouldnt work. The lounge was lovely, but a standard light would be nice, I listened to music, I had to listen in the dark or have the main lights on. Also, at least one side table would be useful, I had to use the shoe rack and a place mat, coffee table to low. The yard patio needs some maintenance, the floor had bits missing where the floor covering has worn away. Im a light sleeper, I had to buy a sleep mask, as the blinds werent blackout ones, so it was light in the rooms at 4am. Maybe invest in some blackout blinds or curtains. Lovely place and the locals were very friendly. Nice touch with the wine and chocolate.
Very nice house plenty of room for a large family . Very clean . Think the house could definitely do with some shade in the yard !!! Would have liked better quality bedding . Towels great and plenty of them . Purely on a personal level would have painted the poor quality wood panels and doors maybe white . Would have looked better less like a sauna and more in keeping with the seaside theme . All in all this was a really nice stay , did have very hot weather to so garden shade and a couple of fans on the top floor would have been amazing . Thanks go to the cleaner .

Amazing place to stay, not far from the beach and extremely cute! The threestory house is a cosy and tidy space with all the furniture and fittings in great condition. We had a great time using the wellstocked kitchen which comes with all the basic supplies, a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's even a small bag of ice in the freezer! The living space comes with a large TV and comfy sofas with blankets to snuggle up in during the evenings. There are lots of extra dining chairs for the indoor and outdoor dining space as well which was a thoughtful addition. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with clean bedding. One of the rooms on the second floor has the main light switch outside the room which was a little odd, but all rooms have small lamps. The top two bedrooms have lovely skylights instead of windows. Most of the doors didn't shut or lock properly, but that isn't a major problem in a closeknit group. Overall had an amazing experience here and really glad we ended up choosing Harbour Retreat.

A lovely stay in harbour retreat, with everything you need for a comfortable stay, would only like to mention the leak from the shower in the family bathroom, but apart from the that 100 recommend a stay in this property. would definitely stay again

This house is perfect. Fabulous location 5 mins walk from beach & shop, chippy & 2 pubs on same road! House itself is spacious, clean, modern, really comfy beds & 2 great showers. A lovely welcome pack of chocs & wine & lots of little extras supplied. It was Nov & fairly cold but central heating heated the place up quickly. Great outside secure space which was great for dog. Will be returning soon
