Juniper Cottage Reviews

The cottage was very comfortable, but carpets need cleaning , the pans for cooking very old and not very clean , needs updating , no dish washer tablets , no soap dispenser in the two bathrooms, we had to wash the towels as the did not smell very nice , the cottage itself is lovely and would stay again . But these items need addressing.

Another lovely time spent at Juniper Comfortable clean and close to all ... Another lovely time spent at Juniper Comfortable clean and close to all amenities grandchildren loved it as so close to rocks for crabbing Short walk over golf course to beautiful beach great times
We have stayed here a few times. Always good and comfortable. Recent upgrades to furniture and decor and to bathrooms are an improvement. If we have a criticism, the beds are not comfortable or maybe we are getting older and less tolerant! and the frying pans could do with renewing. Forgot to leave a note that the central light bulb in the upstairs bedroom has failed. We would definitely rate Juniper high on our Seahouses places to stay, and we have stayed in a lot!
Jacqueline
We had a wonderful stay here, in this quaint harbour area, with easy access to the village. Beautifully decorated and welcoming. We stayed through storm Amy and were toasty and warm. The boot rm was a great addition for storing coats, boots etc. The rooms downstairs were cosy and attractive. However we all felt some brighter lighting was needed. Also, in the lounge we didn't like the lack of screening to the large windows. It was dark as we ate, sitting at the table and people do pass on the road outside. However we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend.

Accommodation was lovely modern Comfortable well equipped very clean Central ... Accommodation was lovely modern Comfortable well equipped very clean Central for everything Great for children for crabbing on rocks and short walk to beach over golf course Had a lovely 5nights so good going back in a few weeks
The start of the holiday was completely ruined by Northumbria Cottages team. We had made an urgent request to try and accommodate a 2nd dog at short notice. We agree that the listing clearly stated 1 dog , but we were told in writing 'not to worry'. They asked for information about our dog and saying that there would likely be an extra charge. Believing this to be the solution we did nothing further.Northumbria Cottages said they would ask the owners if it were possible but then sat on the reply turning down our request for 3 days, only giving us a few hrs before departure to try and organise alternative arrangements. Request made on 23rd reply given to Northumbria 26th, response given to us on the afternoon of 29th departure 9 am 30th. Very poor customer . service. The accommodation was very good, Northumbria Cottages involvement was disastrous .
Lovely, well presented cottage with plenty of thoughtful additions in perfect location. Lack of direct sea view more than made up for by pleasure of watching swooping swallows nesting over the road. Agree that master bedroom mattress is not very comfortable the one downstairs was much better wasted to benefit my grown up kids who hadn't paid the holiday bill! Only other addition I would have liked is a pulley system to hoist my breakfast kipper roll over the street direct to my hand

Generally a good stay but the ensuite bedroom shower didnt work the whole week. I did ask maintenance to come which they did promptly but the shower was broken enough to need a new one not available till the Friday ..we left on the Thursday anyway. The plug got stuck in the sink, I had to bail out the water. The lounge was lovely and light and spacious but the chairs were not very comfy. The kitchen was well equipped and worked well. Parking proved no problem at all and we had 2 cars.
Well furnished and good location

A briliiant base for exploring Northumberland from! Thank you for a great weeks stay!
Beautiful cottage a street away from the harbour and sea front. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and very well appointed a home from home. We used the double bedroom with en suite upstairs and the bed and bedding were extremely comfortable. The heating was very responsive and we were never cold during our week there. The kitchen has everything you could need. We were very lucky with the weather but the boot room would have been a godsend for a wet pooch if itd been raining. The tiniest tiniest complaint in the strength of the en suite shower could have been better but thats really picking holes. The bath downstairs is a great size and the water runs very hot so its perfect. The instructions we received on parking, keypad etc etc meant we didnt have to make any contact with any queries. All in all we were absolutely delighted with our choice and would very highly recommend!

A really lovely property in a great location in Seahouses. Really liked the upside down living space. It was a beautiful room. House was spotless, beds comfy and it was really comfortable.
Fantastic property, very well equipped with everything you needed for your stay. Great location to beachharbourtown centre & great pubs on corner. Everyone was very welcoming. Indian brasserie was incredible in the wee town . Parking wasn't really a issue as wheelie bins secured space outside. .. Would highly recommend it and we would stay again.

This is a gorgeous property and is finished to a high standard . It was close to all amenities and we had a wonderful stay and would definately stay again. There were a couple of things that as an owner I would like to know to keep on top of keeping high standards and may want to bring up with the cleaning company. Alot of the ledges and sides were quite dusty .The shower room in upstairs bedroom will need attention to combat the mould that has begun to start to grow and downstairs taps in bathroom need attention . The key safe was really tricky to get the key back in as there either needs a smaller keyring or a hook to hang the key it took lots of attempts to get it back in .None of these things impacted our stay we had an amazing time and the property was topnotch

We loved the cottage and Ive already recommended it to a friend! Our 3 daughters occupied the downstairs bedrooms whilst my husband and I had the ensuite. It was so handy having 2 bathrooms. The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. It had such a nice feel about it and we loved it as soon as we walked in. There was only one small issue which in no way spoilt or overshadowed our stay but there were 2 drops of blood on the bottom sheet on the bed in the ensuite room and a smudging of blood on two of the 4 pillows. It had not come from my husband or myself. I do think its worth mentioning as it was a little offputting. The welcome pack was a lovely idea. The parking was never an issue as in some reviews. We left the bins out to secure a spot and it was always available on our return. We put the radiators on in the morning and it quickly became toastie for us having our breakfast. An enjoyable stay. Seahouses is a gray central base from which to explore this lovely county.

Beautiful clean house. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
The cottage is in a great location for beaches and castles. Well situated within the town. The picture of the downstairs room is misleading as you would never sit at the side of such a dusty, busy street. The place was not clean, the grill pan was full of fat , the tiles around the extractor fan in downstairs bathroom had dirt and dust , all skirting boards had a thick layer of dust. The outside bins were both full so we were using the bins in town. The bin in the kitchen was useless for a cottage that sleeps six. The large frying pan was concave underneath so therefore didnt work on an induction hob. A list of what exactly was provided would be useful 1 toilet roll per bathroom is stingy, as was 3 dishwashers tablets. When we paid 1500 we expected better standards.
Stewart
A very well appointed and beautifully presented property in an ideal location wanting for nothing other than the provision of an additional key which would have made early morning late evening dog walking less problematic if all in bed, does dog walker lock them in or leave property insecure Seemed like a respectable area so took chance with insecurity without issue Utilised wheelie bins to ensure parking for two cars throughout, without incident. Would highly recommend
Fabulous stay in the centre of Seahouses
The property is in a good location for the harbour and local amenities, has a well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, and an excellent welcome pack. It is warm and well insulated throughout, and would be very suitable for Autumn or Winter breaks. It is rather dark downstairs, but light and airy once on the first floor. The main drawback is the lack of a clearly designated parking space. Though there is a complementary parking permit for the payanddisplay car parks provided which is an excellent idea, it does not fully compensate for the parking issues at the property itself. We found this to be quite a problem ironically enough, as we don't have our own transport. Friends who helped with the transport to and from Seahouses had problems parking when packing and unpacking, as the area suggested was either occupied or being unofficially reserved by other drivers who thought the space was available. We found the house bins were being used to reserve a space when we were out. We feel that a designated parking space should really be a given with a property like this. Otherwise, the lack or a basic radio was a miss, and we'd like to note that the unsafe chair leg mentioned in previous reviews had still not been attended to. However, if the parking issues are not a problem for you, this property is in an excellent location.
The cottage was well equipped and very well located. One odd thing was that the blue armchair near the window still had a wobbly leg and so was unusable. It didn't bother us as we were only 2 people but this had been noted in an older review and should be sorted. We felt there were quite high expectations of guests on leaving the cottage but overall we had a super time. The parking worked fine for us but we were lucky the chap at the Smokehouse had put cones out on our arrival as the bank holiday weekend was v busy.

We enjoyed a super family break at this wonderful cottage which was spacious, light and airy, tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. The boot room was a welcome addition for drying off our dog after being out walking and for storing our jackets and outdoor shoes etc. This ensured the rest of the cottage was free from any clutter. Super amenities. Good location, with a short walk into Seahouses and a perfect base for exploring the local area. Would stay here again.
The cottage was fabulous and great location 5 minutes from the harbour, pubs and shops. the interior was well appointed and easy to understand instructions, quick access to the property via key box. Good location to explore other parts of the area. overall all a great break and definitely will be stay again.
Juniper Cottage was in a great location in Seahouses, it is modern and clean with a great garagelaundry area to dump boots, coats etc. It is a house for 6 and whilst it does have 1 ensuite and 1 other bathroom, it would be great to have a spare loo when 3 sets of couples are staying. The quality of the bedding was not the usual standard we have had with other Sykes properties.
Michelle
Really impressed with the cottage, it was very welcoming, nicely decorated and well equipped with everything needed to selfcater. The location is perfect in the centre of the village with a great pub next door. Can highly recommend.
Steven
Considering it was a Christmas stay, it proved very difficult to gain confirmation from the owners, that a Christmas tree would be in the property. Once this had been confirmed, 2 weeks before our stay, the actual tree was basic with battery lights which did not work. We found this very disappointing. Having arrived with frozen food for Christmas, I spent 45 minutes defrosting the freezer so that we could access the freezer compartments a photo can be provided for confirmation. Other than these observations, we found the cottage to be well equipped, comfortable and clean. Great location and we appreciated the Welcome Pack and overall had a very enjoyable stay.
We have just arrived home from a lovely stay at juniper cottage. On arrival, the accommodation was warm and inviting. The cottage was clean and comfortable and well equipped. We were provided with a welcome pack, made up of thoughtful provisions. Juniper is situated in the old town, a stone's throw from the harbour and directly opposite the delightful fisherman's kitchen. There was available parking for one car on our street, which was perfect for us, the kind gentleman from the fishermans kitchen made sure our spot was free on arrival, which was great when unloading luggage. I would highly recommend a stay and would not hesitate to book again in the future.
Lovely house in great location and very well equipped. Someone else seems to be using the general wheelie bin. It was overfull when we arrived and half filled very soon after the bin men emptied it! Also the arm chair near the window has a very loose front leg that we noticed when we arrived. We just didnt use it at all.
Theresa
The washbasin in the downstairs bedroom is cracked. Blue upholstered chair in the main room has bent leg and could not be used. Fire Extinguishers are useless! They have not been maintained and have no pressure and would not operate in an emergency. This would be dangerous and delay the evacuation of guests who falsely believed they could fight the fire! Some chipped cups and not full sets of glasses and crockery. Carpets are stained and the stairs smelled of dogs. Overall we would consider a return if these elements were remedied
Trevor
Extremely well thought out everything you need . loved the welcome pack best we have had.Great boot room. Road outside awful so many pot holes. Loved swallows fish mongers. So central to walk to everywhere . Loved seahouses Craster newton by the sea and Bamburgh. Black swan 2 mins walk food excellent. Bamburgh castle hotel lovely atmosphere nice outside area overlooking harbour but food awful. Everywhere is dog friendly so nice.We had not main light in kings size bedroom downstairs reported it first day said someone would come to fix it still waiting.no disc for free parking it cost us a bomb in parking we had 2 cars very disappointed . Cleanliness of the whole place could have been better . On top of wardrobes so much dust .Kitchen cupboards still crumbs in and kitchen drawer. I dont think cleaners have enough time . I think it needs a super clean every few weeks not just top show . I was extremely impressed with all the cleaning products you left us beautiful clean tea towels aswell. The best we have had and we have been coming to Northumberland for 29 years . Love it . I would recommend Juniper. But you do need feed back and slight improvement on above but best cottage we have stayed in for a while .
Christine
Juniper Cottage was a great place to stay although no views from the house, the sea and harbour were just two minutes walk away. Perfect for multigenerational holidays, with accommodation on two floors. Well equipped kitchen, spacious sitting room. Useful boot room especially for feeding and drying off the dog! Amazing smoked and fresh fish shop opposite, delicious kipper pate. We loved Seahouses and the coast nearby and hope to go back soon.
Andrew
A lovely cottage, good location for visiting many places on the beautiful Northumbrian coast. We were able to park opposite the property. Happily return to this property.
Simone
Great cottages, beautifully set out with some lovely extras such as starter pack and booksdvds and games on offer. Really struggled to find faults and all instructions very clear and easy to find in the folder. Loved the boot room with the bits for the beach to use. I was was slightly worried about the parking in the run up to the break but we never had an issue parking in the street. If anything its great having the Smokehouse opposite not just for the produce but impressive amount of visitors it attracts. Juniper is a great addition to the Northumbria portfolio!! We will return!
Lorraine
We had a lovely stay and could not fault Juniper cottage. Definitely would stay again. It had everything you could want and more. It was right in the heart of Seahouses. Parking is on street opposite cottage next to the famous smokehouse. Please note the road is a private with a lots of potholes so take care. It really does need resurfacing. We had a dog so it was nice to have a boot room. Dogs are welcome and you could take them in all the pubs which are close by to the cottage. When you step out of the cottage down street is the sea with a lovely costal walk to the right where you can walk your dog . Turn left and you have the harbour. So many places to visit nearby highly recommend Seahouses and Juniper cottage .
We loved it, such a beautiful house, very clever design, loved it's history and a fabulous location. We've been coming to Northumberland for many years and this is the first time we've stayed in Seahouses, it won't be the last, it was great. Such a spacious house and what a bonus having the handy boot room. We would love to come again. Only a very tiny niggle but we wondered why the parking permit ran out on Thursday when we were staying until Saturday? Also we would love to have had a fish slice and tongs in the kitchen for our cooked breakfasts!! Not a big deal!!!
Fabulous cottage, completed to a really high standard and spotlessly clean. It had everything we needed for an extremely comfortable and relaxing stay. Peaceful location and in an excellent position to explore Seahouses and the surrounding coastline. We would definitely return here.
The cottage was very well equipped. Very clean and comfortable. Would certainly use it again.
Beautifully decorated and arranged flat lovely bedrooms, comfortable beds, light and airy, good showers, excellently kitted out kitchen and utility area. And located within very easy reach of the coast path.
Fabulous property , beautifully furnished and so well equipped, we found it to be very spacious and well situated inn a quiet location but so close to all amenities. The welcome hamper a lovely surprise. We enjoyed so much returning after a day exploring. Would definitely return if we are able
