Kilrenny Reviews

Nicola
The house was a great size, as was the back garden, but sadly, that was overlooked from every angle. Clean. Great location. Plenty of hot water. The fridge had no freezer compartment, not great when your dog eats frozen food. The kitchen equipment was very limited no salad bowls, baking trays, all knives beyond blunt, the grater was too small to grate anything bigger than lemon rind. The TV would not connect to 'regular' TV, we googled, tried everything but no joy. And no instructions. I tried contacting the owner, unable to... Needs more signage to show where the entrance to the property is! Two of the beds weren't quite doubles, but more than adequate. Outside windows were filthy. Sorry, we had a great time, just disappointed with the above.

It looks like there has been a leak from the bathroom that could cause problems
No freezer as advertised Internet extremely slow A tv aerial would make tv work alot better Rear garden needs a little t. L.c Other then that really enjoy our stay just a couple of niggles with tv and garden but house is comfortable and bed are extremely comfy.
Fantastic position in the centre of Seahouses, very comfortable beds & a great outside space for our two Toy Poodles. Already thinking about rebooking.
Internally the house was comfortable and the decor was nice. However I felt the photo of the outside of the house was misleading. We travel the county a lot and stay in different types of properties, if there was a picture of the front of the house we wouldn't have stayed I'm afraid. I understand this is personal taste. Unfortunately there were children coming into the garden banging the back door and throwing things at the windows and jumping on the nearby garage roofs. I found this unnerving and didn't leave our dog out in the garden on her own. Also the wheelie bin hadn't been emptied the previous week, when we arrived it was overflowing so our rubbish couldn't go either. After a few days we decided to leave earlier and booked somewhere else. A holiday is all about the experience and this sadly wasn't a good one for us.

Decor and furnishings good Welcome pack nice Beds really comfortable Towels lovely but large and difficult to dry as need radiator rails or hooks towel rails in 2 toilets Need rotary dryer or washing line as no drier and indoor airer insufficient for 6 Advertises freezer, actually icebox in fridge which is misleading and insufficient for 6 Fridge too small and needs to be freestanding. Milk tray bit on door as shelf space do limited Basics missing including tin opener and scissors. Reported this and parking pass expiring and no one checked it has been resolved Sykes rang and I went twice to Northumbria cottages office but I had to go seeking rather than me being contacted and had to check out plan for permit Hooks behind internal doors upstairs would be useful No recycling bin yet told to put out. Instructions therefore not appropriate A little frustrating for price paid Nice house thiugh
Joanne
Lovely property very comfortable beds and nice soft towels. Would stay again and highly recommend it. Very close to the shops, restaurants and pubs. Only one small let down we didnt receive any welcome pack but that wouldnt stop us from booking again.

The property was difficult to find from the picture given which is of the rear of the property. It would help if there was a picture of the front of the house. The house is actually an extension of next door so is very difficult to see. The property downstairs was not clean, I have contacted Sykes about this and yet to receive a reply over 2 weeks now. We had to have an electrician out on the Sat morning to mend the lights in the kitchen as they were not working, and on Sunday tea time there was no hot water or heating available as presumably the gas bottles had run out. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and clean and the bathroom was clean. The garden lawn had not been cut and the outdoor table was not clean , there was rubbish under the outdoor table. The car parking permit works well if you are happy for your car to be in the main car park out of sight as definitely no parking by the property. Unfortunately the welcome pack which we were expecting from the pictures which looked to include wine and chocolates was not present when we arrived, and I was told that picture will be removed now if this is not being provided. The property is well placed for the centre and not far from the harbour and beach , the stay was spoilt with various hiccups that we were trying to sort out whilst only being there 3 nights, and still trying to resolve with Sykes.
Well we went to stay at Seahouses in a wonderful cottage Kilrenny. It was clean, very comfortable and very close to the sea a 1 min walk in fact you would not believe the walks locally so many places to visit. The bed in the main bedroom is massive ! Me and my wife loved our stay here and would have loved to have stayed longer. The area is just bliss and dog heaven. If you stay here you will love it. Had a great time and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for a great holiday location!!
Rachel
Great location close to centre of village. No parking at property, but the car park was close by and the parking pass was actually a bonus as it could be used at a number of car parks across Northumberland we used it at Beadnell, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh which saved quite a bit in parking charges. Nice decor and furniture super King bed was a bonus as made it more a home from home. Lots of crockery and cups which meant you could actually use the dishwasher as enough to rotate. Good amount of other kitchen utensils to allow home cooking. Washing machine was also a plus point.
Sandra
We really enjoyed our stay at Kilrenny . The house was very comfortable and had obviously just been refurbished. The parking permit was great, we didnt have to pay for parking anywhere during our 5 day stay. We were a little disappointed that the welcome basket wasnt as shown in the photographs it was just teacoffee and biscuits sadly no Jammy Red chocs etc . It would be good if there were some lights in the garden and perhaps one by the front door. Just some battery solar sensor lights would be great. Would definately recommend Kilrenny and would love to return.
A lovely home, ideally located for a costal holiday. Would definitely stay here again
There seems to be a lack of written instructions. There are no television instructions and normal TV does not appear. There are two remotes and it would be very helpful to have further info. The main remote turns the tv on but what the smaller remote is for I don't know. There no instructions for the heating, it is all guess work. I managed to get it to work fortunately I am not a technophobe.but others might struggle. How to open and lock the back door would be helpful too. This is a great house, very comfortable and would recommend it to anyone. The parking permit is very handy and can be used at various other car parks in the area. It is only a very short walk to the car park through the cutting. Would definitely book again.
Myself and my daughter had a wonderful mini break at the end of Aug. The property was well decorated, spacious and really comfortable with everything you need for a home from home trip. We unloaded the car and found the car park without any issue. The walk back to the house is quick and easy. Theres a cut at the end of the street which brings you straight onto the main street with lots of independent shops and restaurants. The outdoor sitting area is lovely and feels reasonably private. We spent 2 days surfing so it was the perfect base for us and will definitely be back.
The property is advertised as having a sea view and off road parking , which was the main reason for booking the property over others. The only view was a tiny chink of sea between two chimneys and parking was a 10 min walk away in the main carpark in Seahouses . On arrival we had no parking permit in the property and had to pay for 3 days of parking whilst it was sorted. The property looks very attractive on the photos and it was to a degree, but on closer inspection many small details detracted from the overall experience. No batteries in the TV remote, dead seagull in the garden, unprepared seating area, kitchen light switch non functioning and no welcome pack or property instructions for linenbinswifi etc. The beds, linen and towels were all good quality . The TV has no live feed just streaming channels that require your own log in. Everything in the house looked very newly bought or installed with many of the price labels still on! Good property overall just needs the finishing touches sorting as well as a more honest advert
We stayed in Mayfield for a long weekend. It was our first time going to Seahouses and Northumberland. It certainly lived up to its reputation for having some of the best beaches and coastline in the UK with some absolutely stunning scenery and some of the best fish and chips as we dont get them as good down south! The house was immaculate and it looked very recently renovated. We found it very comfortable, the master bedroom is a great size and had everything we needed to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable both for adults and our young daughters aged 3 & 5. The garden is a great space to enjoy the evenings on the decking and a safe space for the kids to play as it is enclosed a secured by a gate. Although there is no on siteoff road parking it was handy to unload at the front of the house and then park the car in the main car park in the village which is only a short 1 minute walk through the access at the end of the street and across main st. The parking pass is handy and saves you that little bit extra on parking. I will definitely look to return to Seahouses again next year and would use the property again as the central location is perfect.
