Henhill Lodge Reviews

We spent a week at Henhill Lodge & I didn't want to leave despite storm Chandra flooding local surrounding roads and throwing everthing our way! The location for us was perfect to decompress from work, the cottage is cosy and homely, the stove made it home from home. The living area presented as bigger than the photographs on the website and allowed room for the dog beds. The very large garden was very much appreciated by our dogs to play ball in....There is a gate on the exterier of the garden which leads down the side of the agricultural fields which is handy for a short dog walk dogs must be kept on lead to respect the farmers crops... The utility was great for prepping dog food and storing doggy or excess items of luggage... We will definately return, it was definately one of our favorite cottages. Thanks for the Apple Inn reccomendation which was very dog friendly & the food was delicious.. For Dog owners if your dogs are fearful of noises Gas Guns are used in fields to protect crops, also there are local occasional weekend shoots..In the garden there are some 'mole sticks' protruding which we had to temporarily lay flat as one of our dogs only has one eye and is partially sighted in the other... The garden is fab, it's enclosed and I'd say secure for medium large dogs however some of the wire is missing damaged in places which would allow small dogs to escape if they were explorers! Feedback definately NOT criticism, the steps leading from the decking are quite slippy, more so when wet. There is some metal protruding up through the grass in the garden two pieces in front of the decking area one further down the garden which I placed sticks around it. The hoover flex is worn and is showing the coloured wiring through it.

What a wonderful week. The Lodge is perfect with everything we needed. We appreciated the small things like being in control of the heating ourselves and the dog biscuits supplied for our dogs. The garden was great for playing out on the snowy day and the location is a short journey to the nearby towns. Thanmyou for having us!
Weve had the best time ever at Henhill Lodge and would love to stay again. The large garden was perfect for our lively young dog and the cottage was comfortable, clean and cosy. Perfect location to see the sights of the area too.
Melanie
5 stars the cottage is beautiful in a lovely location, fully equipped, very clean, our dogs loved the enclosed garden area and Josh the host is a lovely man we will definitely be back again.
Very comfortable accommodation and whilst in the countryside, easily accessible from A1. The property was clean and tidy and had a large gardenpaddock area which was perfect for our dog. Good access to the coast and tourist spots such as Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnwick. Would definitely recommend.
Michael
Lovely cottage with stunning views. Cosy feeling to cottage with wood burner that warms right through.Nice and clean throughout and would definitely recommend this cottage.Booking next year for a short break and thoroughly looking forward to it.
Lovely place and with easy access to A1. Nicely placed for visiting Northumberland. Clea and tidy with all you need for your holiday. My only downside was bed was too soft. Lovely and quiet and nice to see the wildlife too.

Superb property in an equally superb location, view fabulous, looking out towards the coast. Comfortable, clean and wellequipped. Everywhere is different and if I had to pick out any very slight negative is the lack of any table to sit at to eatdraw etc. There are bar stools and a worktop area, but a bit rickety. Very minor, otherwise pretty much perfect!
Joanne
Lovely property in a quiet, rural location. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs
Couldn't fault this lovely holiday home. Every facility anyone would need for a base to explore beautiful Northumberland from. Breakfast on the patio was a real treat. Quiet location to spend a relaxing evening after a day's exploration. A week not enough time to see all the sights so hoping we can get booked in again for next year! Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying in the Lodge.
William
Great location for us, the enclosed paddock was super for our dog. So quiet yet close to Bamburgh, Alnwick, Seahouses and other small villages and towns. Everything you need is in the cottage, we will certainly return.
Staying at Henhill lodge was such a wonderful and relaxing time. The property was spotlessly clean , very comfortable and well provisioned. It has a very large secure rear garden for four legged family members to roam and play in. It's situated in beautiful countryside not far from Sea houses. There are lots to do in the area with some great restaurants to dine out at. An amazing stay and we are planning to return at at a later date.
Elizabeth
Fantastic property in a lovely peaceful setting ideal for visiting lots of local places. . This was our 2nd visit here and we will definitely be back for a 3rd. Spotlessly clean, excellent facilities, very comfortable bed!
Gillian
Thank you Josh for a perfect holiday cottage , spotless , well appointed and well located . The garden was perfect for our rescue dog. The area was fascinating and would heartily recommend.
This is a good base to stay for visiting the near by villages and beaches ... This is a good base to stay for visiting the near by villages and beaches weve had a lovely 4day break here very much out on the sticks so no walking to a pubs but that not a problem for us The only fault I could find was theres no extra cloths for cleaning and no kitchen roll but there was no welcome pack as well I think its the first time Ive arrived somewhere and there no milk in the fridge good job Id brought my own and the bedding wasnt the best but other then that weve had a good few days helped by the sunshine
Gorgeous place to stay, very clean and comfortable, and well equipped. Shame we only stayed 2 nights, would definitely think about coming back and would recommend to others
Christine
Lovely property, well situated to visit Northumberland attractions. Very comfortable, every thing was there as needed, all of a quality standard. Very clean and well maintained.
We loved our stay at Henhill Lodge. It was warm day and night and we were impressed with the heating system. The paddock was perfect for Norman, our Gran Canaria rescue. We did a couple of hill walks as he's very reactive to all dogs, so it was good to see far fewer dogs, and less stressful for us too! Weather was good but a little chilly, but we live further down the East coast so are used to it, especially at this time of year. It was lovely to meet Josh who came with a coastal walk print off. Will definitely recommend ! Helen, Mick and Norman
Lovely clean and well presented cottage. Ideally situated for exploring the delights of Northumberland.
Lovely comfortable , clean cottage with stunning views to the sea . Our puppy Brodie loved the massive garden . We definitely plan to return next year
Cottage was immaculately presented and in a convenient rural location only a few miles from the coast. The enclosed garden area was also very handy with having 2 dogs with us.
This is a lovely clean cottage in a beautiful place. Really quite only a few cars go past the road, great for visiting all the areas attractions and beaches. I would definitely recommend a stay here, it's so peaceful.
Henhill lodge is a lovely cottage, it was clean & well presented with a well equipped kitchen, a perfect secure garden for our 2 dogs, in a great location for both beach walks 10 minute drive to seahouses & country walks. A great multi fuel fire which was lovely for a cosy evening after a long walk. A more powerful shower & an outside tap would have been a bonus but would definitely recommend & will book again the next time we return to Northumberland
One of the nicest properties I've stayed in. Clean, well equipped and the log burner was great during storm Bert. The owner came up to welcome me and check I had everything I needed. Lovely views across the valley, including steam trains making their way up the east coast main line in the distance. Lovely walk along the lanes to Lucker village and its bonny little church. Bamburgh beach and castle absolutely stunning. Will be booking again in the new year.
Joanne
Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Well equipped and nicely decorated. So peaceful and relaxing. I'm a regular visitor to the area and this was perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful beaches, castles and towns. The dog loved the garden, especially the toys! I loved it so much I was going to book again which is a first for me! but sadly it's already booked up
Lovely comfortable cottage in a lovely area. Very dog friendly. Nice restaurants and pubs.
Brenda
A lovely, quiet retreat. Cosy, well equipped and the utility room was a real bonus. I especially loved looking out onto the huge back garden which the dogs loved and across the fields to the sea. We definitely intend to return.
Very nice lodge, very quiet and easy to access major road for days out etc. It was also nice and warm all day and night with the heatpump system which I had doubts about how efficient they are. Would recommend Sykes holiday cottages for self catering holidays, in fact we already booked our next cottage for next year.
We had a lovely holiday which was made extremely comfortable staying at Henhill cottage , it was an ideal base for visiting the area . The cottage was very clean well equipped and ideal for the two of us . I would definitely recommend the cottage as a great place to stay .
Carrie
The property was ideal. Such a quiet spot, with beautiful countryside. Everything was very clean and tidy. The utility room was perfect, especially with the dogs. I would highly recommend this property in such a pretty part of the country with so much to do and see.
We really enjoyed our stay at Henhill Lodge, its in a great location and the property is well equipped and comfortable. Our Dog spent must of hi time running around and exploring the large enclosed Garden. We found some good local Pubs and Restaurants to and the nearby Beaches are quiet and expansive.
Carol-ann
Lovely cottage and located in the countryside which was very peaceful, but close enough to visit lots of lovely places

Richard
A very well equipped cottage, clean and comfortable, with the inspiration of a raised decking outside the French windows. Here we could sit and take in the superb view of rolling countryside and the sea in the distance. Our dog enjoyed wandering round the large enclosed paddock and we could easily keep an eye on her. Rural peace and quiet but also well placed for access to the coast and places of interest, including some nice restaurants!
Elizabeth
Lovely peaceful cottage in beautiful location, highly convenient for visiting the local area. Property had everything we needed for our stay, spotlessly clean and loved having the washer and drier. I think it would benefit from one extra armchair as there is just one 2 seater. Overall a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely be returning.
Philip
We would book again. We felt that being a new set up the property lacked a little bit of character but over time this will develop. Bedding was too warm for our liking even with radiator off and windows open, so different options with sheet etc would have been appreciated.
Lorraine
